ARFAIOLI:

Maurizio Arfaioli received his B.A. in History at the Università di Pisa and his Ph.D. at the University of Warwick (2002) and has held research fellowships at the Villa I Tatti (The Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies) and at the Italian Academy at Columbia University. Arfaioli has been a Senior Research Fellow at the Medici Archive Project since 2010, and his interests include military history, Granducal Florence, Spanish Italy and Low Countries, early modern military iconography, and digital prosopography. His current projects focus on the Florentine military system under the reign of Cosimo I de’ Medici (1519-74) and the Italian troops in Spanish service in the Low Countries (1567-1713).​
